Past Artists - Morag Orr-Stevens

Award-winning artist Morag Orr-Stevens enjoys exploring different techniques and themes that combine a variety of textures and media.

Largely self-taught, Morag’s work has quickly gained recognition and now her canvases and hangings can be found in corporate and private collections throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom. Also, her designs have been used for the Canadian Embassy in Washington’s Christmas cards in both 1999 and 2000.

Born in Scotland, Morag moved to the west coast before living briefly in Germany. She began to seriously pursue her art in the late 1980’s and shortly thereafter moved to Gabriola with her husband Don Stevens. Since her arrival on Gabriola Morag has been an active and supportive member of it's artistic community. Until recently she hosted an annual event in her beautiful summer garden that showcased various island artisans.

Morag has had several solo exhibitions of her work and has received numerous awards including the BC Arts and Culture Award and the Federation of Canadian Artists Award of Excellence on five occasions.
